Of course you will seek it but it only comes after seeking is dropped.

Begin to surround yourself with Positive thoughts Only. Focus on things such as the beauty of a bird flying, or feel the laughter of a little child, who runs to a playground at a park. Focus on the True beauty around you, and FEEL it 's goodness. Let This be your ever constant present of Now. Keeping your spirit at Rest, is being within the moment of Silence. In the silence, make certain your Focus is on the positive. And you will be in the Heavenly presence of Life's Peace. This, I believe , is Enlightenment, For you are Loving Life for what it IS. And you are experiencing Life Loving You.

You need a guru of some kind. I'd start with some very light reading to see what sect appeals to you. Hindusim, Buddhism, Zen, Daosism, Tibetan buddhism, etc... Then find someone of that tradition to guide you.
- an enlightened one.

There is an old Japanese saying:
Before enlightenment, chopping wood
After enlightenment, chopping wood
As for the way to enlightenment, learn as much as you can (through reading/groups/life!) and practice what feels right.

The best place to start looking is inside yourself. Free yourself from negativity of any kind, and open your mind - a closed mind can never learn or grow, yet an open mind never stops learning or "evolving" (for lack of a better term). If you're willing to stop talking and listen - close your mouth and open your ears and mind - you'll learn a lot more by hearing it from others. You can see it in the world around you. Open your mind and heart, and you'll grow in ways and degrees you'd never thought possible, as you'll be open to the knowledge and wisdom that's always coming to us all.

What works for me is reading the Book of Psalms that follows King David's emotional travels that match our own and top that off with the Book of John. Both books are found in the bible

I use my dreams, after you get past the point of not dreaming about your own life, you start getting into the weird stuff then eventually, something should happen, i know i've changed because of my dreams. if just because I can manage to get the same ideas i do from dreams, in my conscious life.

I try to read the enquirer every day and keep track of those two crazies, Paris and Brittney. Then I can play games on my new cell phone as well.
Anything that those 2 things cant explain, I ask here!

The first, and most important, thing you must do is "die to yourself". As long as there are feelings, wants, wishes, etc...
then they will always block you from seeing what the Truth is, as you perceive it to be, in any case.

Meditation would be the best bet.
as meditation is meant to clear your mind enough to be connected to the divine.
learn the secrets, the forbidden knowledge :) sounds good.
