Get her a bottle of her favorite perfume, It shows you care, and were thinking about her, also It will make her feel pretty.

you are a wonderful in-law to care that much for her and her wishes.
I know my gift idea is not inspirational but it is special.

Here is a great beautiful gift idea. Contact as many close friends and family that you can think of. Ask them all to write a one page, personal letter to her about why they love her, why she is so great and all that she means to them. Then take the letters and slip one each into separate plastic slip-pages and put them in a handmade book/folder for her. It will mean so much to her and it will be a good chance for everyone to tell her what she means to them. You can ask people not to mention the cancer, but just focus on her character. I am so sorry for your family's pain... I lost my beloved father-in-law unexpectedly 6 months ago and I'd do anything to give him a hug and kiss and tell him how much I love and respect him.

Make her a card that says you are giving her a gift of your time, like a coupon, for a day out.
You could go to lunch and if not too taxing on her, drive her around to a favorite park, neighborhood or water feature. Or you could tell her you will come over and bring her a picnic lunch of her favorites and you and she could picnic inside the house, put on some nice music, and talk about current events, books or tv shows.

I bought a lady friend of mine who was dying of cancer a CD of music for women. I think I got it from Target. Do you know she loved the music so much she called me to tell me how it inspired, motivated and soothed her....

God bless you for caring.

CD'S are great for folks that cant get around. Especially gospel, or inspirational. She can listenwhen shes alone or when others are visiting. The sounds may also soothe the emotions of the folks coming to see her.

What about a houseplant which has beautiful flowers, doesn't need much care, and the blossoms last for months?
Both african violets and phaelanopsis orchids (the purple or white ones found in grocery stores these days) are easy-care and will be a joy for her as her condition deteriorates.
