Once the bed of the cuticle is damaged (easy done not protecting your hands) no amount of vitamins etc will cure these ridges however as already explained you can get rid of them by buffing with a special emery board. The only problem with this is that it weakens the nail and makes them more susceptible to spliting. The other alternative is to keep your nails neatly trimmed and buff them to shine so they look clean and unobstrusive or give them a coat of nail polish.

really its just how ur nails were made, i have them too. my Grandma, my greatgrandma, and even my mom, my sis, my dad, and me. its inherited. but i really dont think there really is an answer of what they are. it has something to do with genetics though. the "n"'s are standing for nail....
like Nn. the big "N" is dominante, and the little "n" is recessive, the ridged nails are "N" meaning this trait is Dominante. most ppl do have ridges in there nails. just get a really good buffer and buff those babies away!! Good Luck sweetie!! and God Bless ♥♥

there is no pat answer. some people have them, some people dont. genetics certainly play a role, as does age, but after that - unless you dont see other people with ridges like yours, they are probably nothing to worry about

I don't know but when you use a little oil and buff really hard with a good buffer they will make your nail shine like you've never seen before.
