Andrew,

I hope this means that you are not thinking about becoming another Evel Knievel.

The answer is "no." Doctors learn a little mnemonic device in med school about breaking your neck: "Break C4, Breathe no more."

When you break your spine (which includes your neck), you usually damage your spinal cord. When you break your neck badly enough, you will damage your spinal cord, and depending on where you break it (you have 7 neck vertebrae), you will paralyze different parts of your body. Generally, the higher the break, the more is paralyzed. If you break the fourth vertebrae, you paralyze your diaphragm, and usually you die before you get to the hospital.

Hope you don't even get close to this.

Do you mean all at once or throughout your lifetime? Either way I think that it is possible. If you break the bones of the spinal column without touching the spinal cord you are in a very very bad situation, but not yet paralyzed or dead.

Yes, but it would be quite painful. Evel Knieval did break many bones in his career and so did Jackie Chan.

Actually its imposible to survive for two main reasons:
1. With any broken bone you bleed and some bones make you bleed more than other
2. You will destroy vital organs so the pronostic ain't good

you'd have a pretty goddamned shitty life with a broken spine.

Did you know that they purposely break the legs of genetically short people so that when it heals, it grows back longer?

Yes...as long as you don't break them all at the same time.
