Sometimes just talking and find out what each other likes. Going out to dinner or the movies. But even then it is hard to know someone. Because you only see the good side and not the bad. But if you really like each other and have a lot in common there should be no problem in getting to know each other.

Understanding each others likes, dislikes, hobbies etc.
Also about inhibitions or lack of it etc. This would help in forming a mental profile of the person.
