It doesn't sound like your friend has an eating disorder, but he does need to see a doctor. His symptoms could indicate anything from indigestion to acid reflux disease to ulcers to anxiety to gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying), all of which are treatable.

So, to answer your question, the foods he should eat and the treatments he should undergo are matters best left to a medical professional. Tell him he does not have to live this way and help him make an appointment with a doctor.

In the meantime, he may want to try 1,100 mg of ginger root immediately following a meal. This supplement comes in capsule form and works wonders on my cranky tummy, but read the label before buying--ginger root is not for everyone.

Good luck to you and your friend...I hope he feels better soon.

Wow, how can you not like eating? Well, a friend of mine has an issue, called acid reflux, and it involves acid coming back up her throat and making her sick, also, her throat works wrong sometimes where, part of the swallowing cycle doesn't work. As you swallow, the throat moves muscle in order to cycle the food down, but some peoples' throats move the wrong muscle at the wrong time, making the food sit in their throat, and making them feel like they are going to throw up, until the muscle below the food relaxes and lets it pass.

See a doctor; I don't say this often on Yahoo answers, but this is really serious.

Tell him to get help; you wouldn't want stomach ulcers to turn into something worse.

All I can suggest is have him eat "soft" foods like eggs; nothing that might upset his stomach.

Possible hiatal hernia. Stomach gets compressed, and always feels full. There isn't enough room for food, so it comes back out. Gently poke (or have him poke) his belly in the middle where his ribs end. If it hurts, explore the possibility of a hiatal hernia.

P.S. You should not need surgery to correct this.

He needs to see a doctor because it sounds physical or even psychological....the doctor needs to determine that. If he thinks his stomach is just upset, tell him to try bland food, not too many spices. It could be a gastrointestinal problem.
