I am 24 years old and really want to save my virginity until marriage....but is masturbation just as wrong or wrong at all before marriage?

Very good question. I am a Christian as well and I am saving myself for marriage. I am 19 and I feel that God wants us to be "sexually pure" and by that I think it also means would should not participate in any sexual activity until we are married. I think kissing, hugging, holding hands is fine. But I think everything else, including masturbation is considered sinful and selfish. I suggest going to your nearest Christian bookstore, there are plenty of books on topics such as this. You should read "Boy meets Girl"--it is a really good book and discusses sexual purity and such. God bless you! :)

To put it in plain terms you wont' find in the bible and a prudish christian won't tell you: "orgasm are exquisite and make the person feel lusty as it's happening, and if you're religious it means you're wantonly phucking even if in your own mind." The ACTUAL reason masturbation is wrong (not the naughty! naughty! reason above) is that in warring tribal nations, you need population numbers to be strong against your rivals. It's better to have all young women producing children at all times. They would be producing either a warrior or another girl to have more babies. It's as simple as that. Masturbation means the sperm went into a hand and not into a womb. And the christians twisted that into Naughty! Naughty lustful, naughty! As for women masturbating, that was just wrong on all levels to the misogynists of that era. Of course, if you're not religious it's just an orgasm. And what is wrong with some women that they offended when their men masturbate? I don't get it. I also don't understand why wives are MORE devastated when her husband leaves her for a man and would *prefer* it be a woman. That I don't get either. There are mysteries to those aspects of the human mind.

Masturbation is completely normal, completely healthy and completely FUN for males and females of all ages, one of the joys of life in my most humble and ancient opinion. I've been doing it for over 50 years (really) and I ain't blind or crazy yet. It has absolutely nothing to do with virginity either. As far as the religion part, most religions don't object and to those that do (Catholics and Muslims for example) I would say just ignore them in that matter! It's like birth control...people who have kids they don't want and frequently can't afford because the Pope tells them to are NUTS, again in my most humble and most ancient opinion!

I don't think masturbation is wrong, but that is my personal choice. Masturbation is a lot safer in terms of pleasuring yourself and you don't get emotionally or physically involved with anyone else when you do so. It also gives you a release of tension (privately). Plus you wouldn't be repressing your sexual feelings until they strongly overwhelm you and possibly provoke you more into temptation.

if you read the bible just about anything besides goign to sunday school is wrong. I say flick away at the bean if you want to save yourself for marriage, because i think pre marital sex is far worst sin in the bible than masturbastion.

I don't believe that sex is wrong before or after a marriage...and I consider myself Christian.

that's great that you want to save yourself but enough about the god thing.. don't you know that if there is such a thing as god (which I don't believe) that he loves all people, even if you make mistakes and that sinning (if masturbation is such a sin) is human nature.. I think it will be fine if you have at yourself :) :) :)

Masturbation is not bad. Don't mix religion with this.

It depends what religion you go by. From my viewpoint, if God did not want us to masturbate he would have made our arms shorter.
