If you are on a strict budget (less than $500), then you are pretty much stuck in buying a tube TV. If your viewing distance is about 10 ft, then a 27" or 32" would workl. If your viewing distance is 6 ft, then 25" would work. I would not go any smaller.

As for brand, premium is Sony. Sharp or Hitachi would be the next brands. Any other brands would lack in reliability or quality.

At Xmas time, you can get some great financing plans and free stuff with TV's. You might be able to afford more. I would look at Best Buy or Circuit City ads. Week after week, there are good deals. For large electronics, I do not like to buy them online. It's hard to return online.

If your budget is more than $500, then you can start looking at LCD TV's.

Check the sale ads, they always have TV's on sale, but they sell quick so go early, for a great deal on a TV. Happy Holidays and Have fun gaming.
