This war is a bit like football. Every single egotistical retarded wanna-be coach sitting in the stands assumes they can do a better job but the reality is that they wouldn't be able to even do as good of a job, let alone better.
I'm not going to bother to say whether I agree or disagree because any idiot can do that. The only people who have the right to have an opinon about war are those who are inviolved in our military becasue they are the only ones who really know what's going on.

I was in favor of the war then, and I am in favor of the war now. Still, I do not think it was handle as good as it could have been. With that said... pulling troops of Iraq now is the worst thing we can do. Iraq is a bigger mess now than it was when we moved in, and if we leave it will be the perfect breading ground for new terriorists.
It is no secret that the Iraq governement has no legs to stand on. They need the US to be there long enough to stabilize the situation. The quickest way to reach that point is to increase the number of troops and speed up the process of nation building.
I like to believe that we learned from our previous mistakes, and our new secretary of defense will bring new ideas (better ideas, a new strategy) to reach the point where we can withdraw troops. Thus, I do favor an increase in the number of troops in order to do the job right this time and bring everybody home sooner.
Let's not forget that we have not had any attacks in the US since we invaded Iraq. We would be fighthing this war anyway... We just took the war to them instead of fighting it at home.

We have followed the vietnamization of Iraq to the letter. Increasing the armed forces is the next step, and that is what we are going to do in 08 is drastically increase our forces. We need to increase deployments because we are letting to much of the country go unchecked, simply holding Baghdad is a flawed strategy that is letting weapons and soldiers slip in and out of the country. Borders need to be shut off, and the Insurgency clamped.
If this will work I will go for it, but it also might be an attempt to prolong a doomed conflict. I have been against the Iraq war since late 03, but now I am starting to ride the fence with the Bush presidency ending.

At this point it is not a matter of agreeing with the war. Unfortunately, the problem has evolved into one of ensuring that the region does not destabalize if we leave.
While most Americans disagree with the war a growing number are coming to accept that a rapid withdrawl of troops would mean that Iraq would fall into civil war. Saudi Arabia has already declared that if the U.S. leaves it will support the Sunni's in the nation and Iran will support the Shia. You can imagine the kind of chaos which would erupt if two of the most powerful nations in the region, which happen to be two nations vital to fueling fossil-fuel demands globally, went to war. A gallon of gas would cost about as much as the car you plan to put it in.
No, not many people agree with the war, but now its about how to secure the peace and that is something no one can agree on how to accomplish. Hope that answers your question.

If we temporarily increase only the training forces in Iraq, than we can actually get out of there faster which is great. We need to train more Iraq forces and let them fend for their own country. This was a major part of the bi-partisan committee for getting out of Iraq.

Wow we are thinking at the same time in the same issue and we post similar questions.
obviously I'm not agree with any war and specially stand against Iraq Invasion but unfortunately half of this nation vote for Bush... we need to realize that... American culture include to demonstrate hegemony, to take care of the country interests (or its government, people in control) no matter who is affected...

My son has just returned from his second tour of duty in Iraq, and I have a friend who's son was in Afghanistan, and they both are all for it, as I am, and my friends are. And, as far as increased military over there, the more the better. We have an issue to settle so you and I and others can continue to exercise our freedom of speech which we seem to value so much, and if somebody or somebodies don't do the "dirty work", you may not be able to question your country's leadership anymore, when it's no longer the United States of America, and we no longer have any "Bill of Rights". God Bless you.

No offense but are all the people you know who are against it in College? Or are they College Professors?
People with a semester in poli-sci have no real understanding of how things are in the real world even if they agree with their professors. Trust me I was one of them once.
Forgive me, I don't mean to imply your view is wrong. However, ts not a matter of agreeing or disagreeing, it is a matter of "it has already been done, now lets finish it."
We are there now, the work has started, lets get it finished then we can come home. If you try to put out a fire and leave one smoldering cinder, then that means the fire is not out.
It is the same situation, if you want it done sooner you have to do more to it. you cant just say,. well we're done, you all can figure it out from here.
If people stopped freaking out beacuse of Bush and actualy put the same energy in to fixing the place, we could get it done a hell of a lot faster.

im sure many agree with the purchase of Iraq, it is a great long term investment for a stratigic position in the region and finincialy its a gold mine for big business now and in the future once the oil reserves are secured for exclusive american use.
Although the human costs appear high i am sure the boys on the hill allowed for this and are willing to let the figures rise as long as the finicial gain is healthy.
