Am I preppy or not...?

Ok, alright. Well, like, at my school, the subject of me being preppy has been brought up quite a few times and like, some of my friends told me that I do act preppy and then like, some of my other friends say that I only act preppy at certain times, while finally there are some of my friends that say I'm nowhere near preppy...so now i'm just like, "wtf? am i preppy or not?" And also, what is it to be prep? Cause, even if I do act preppy, what is it that I do to make me seem preppy? Simply put: How do preps act?

Preppy is not necessiarly a bad thing, when I think of preppy I think of propper, or conservative in behavior.

Prep = just is a new way of saying jocks/cool kids, they usually act a bit like they are better than others, but never have said "I am preppy" if they do they're just be wanna-bee's. Don't worry about it too much, its the part of life that your just supposed to find your own place and say that stereo types are dumb, or else you'll be a kid for the rest of your life.

(trust me i know a few)

if your preppy, big whoop, true friends wouldn't care at all, as cliche as that sounds.

A true preppy is someone who:
Wears, but is not limited to, Polo, Lilly, Brooks Brothers, Lacoste, LL Bean (ie duck boots), ribbon belts, prints (ie cords with embroidered whales, palm trees, etc), sweaters tied around the neck, collar always popped, looks neat and put together. Hair ribbons or ribbon headbands, pearls, and other classic jewelry pull the look together. Preppies are partial to monogrammed and engraved items (ie tote bags, oxford shirts, jewelry, money clips, etc). Colors are always brite (favorites include pink and lime green). Preppies may not always match EXACTLY but they are always coordinated. They are confident and unafraid to express their own styles and be daring in their fashions. Preppies vacation on Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Delray Beach, and on the coast of Maine. These vacation locales are places their families have been going to for years, and have histories there.
It is a common misconception that preppies are snobs. Many people view them as unapproachable, and as a result mislabel them. Preppies are not as rich as people may think they are, but they are often well off. They buy into classics rather than trends, and don't change their lifestyles with fads.
Preppies tend to have bizarre connections with other preppies they meet, always finding mutual friends/ family and people that run in the same circle.

Preppies don't:
* Wear tight, skin exposing clothing (ie fitted Abercrombie sexual tshirts with tight flared jeans)
* Limit themselves to mall shopping and chain stores. They gravitate towards long-established classic stores and boutiques unique to quaint New England towns.
* Wear heavy makeup and endless hair products. The phrase "less is more" is a preppy creed.
* Glue purses to their arms, especially when going to school. Lip gloss and if need be, a wallet, are thrown into tote bags along with books.

well...the ORIGINAL term preppy had to do with goin to prep school nd therefore bein smart.but NOW its come to mean "cool" nd preppy people nowadays are pretty much fake.the girls wear WAY too much makeup nd skirts too short(not that guys mind) nd the preppy guys wear there pants around their ankles(which to guys readin this is NOT AT ALL attractive) hopefully your not a prep.(you can still be cool if your not a preppy though)

I don't think you should let it bother you. "Preppy" means something different to everyone. But I think the general idea of preppy (the way people use it, not what it originally means) is that you say "like" or "dude" a lot, you wear a lot of polo/Abercrombie shirts, and/or you're really shallow.

ok since i am a prep i can help you ok lets see:

1.preps have TONS of friends
2.preps are extremely outgoing and most preps dont care about what other people think
3.preps are slightly annoying at times
4.preps always have bfs or are too shallow to care
5.preps have like 10 bffs
6.preps' friends are constantly fighting and their lives are full of drama

so if you fit three or more of these catorgories then you are a prep
