I truly feel sorry for those who consider their pets to be their "kids". What a sad society this has become....

I think most people consider their pet family and I don't think it's true that they wouldn't help a homeless person. Animal people are very compassionate and considerate

To some people pets are their children. They spend money on them because they want their "children" to have the best lives possible. We look at other peoples pets and see just an animal but when they look at their pets they see so much more. They see a companion who will love them no matter what. A dog doesn't care if you just got fired from your job or smell really bad from working out. They will kiss you and love you regardless. An animal offers unconditional love which a lot of people don't get from other people. Therefore their "child" that loves them unconditionally deserves the best of the best.

A pet also relives stress and makes you feel good about yourself. Once again making that person feel it is necessary to spend all that money on their pet.

Hope i helped

To automatically assume that a person who loves pets will not do anything for humanity is simply ignorant. You are stereotyping. I was accused of just such a thing because I picked a name off a Christmas giving tree for ferrets. "You wouldn't do that for people!! What about the children???" I do.....I pick name/s off the giving tree for foster children/orphans, but don't see the necessity of advertising it.
I generally find that those who are doing good towards all animals are usually the ones with big hearts towards any living thing and are more apt to help where help is needed.
I hope you are not speaking from experience when you talk about the homeless guy.....but if you are.......sorry 'bout your luck, hope things got better and QUIT JUDGING ALL PEOPLE THE SAME.

As for comparing a dog to a homeless person...In a senus taken do you know that more then 65% of the homless people standing on street corners asking (begging) for money, make more money then someone who works a 40 hour a week job. So to spoil a dog, is well spent money.

Why do you assume people who pay attention to their pets pay no attention to humanity? Pets are wonderful companions that give people joy. Often times, people will grow very attached to their animals and feel as if they are members of the family. There are many people who suffer in the world. People will often choose to aid those closest to them--often their family.

I believe your criticism is misguided. Cherished pets do no harm, and you are wrong to believe that those who spend money on their pets do not give money to charity.

Perhaps instead of slinging hate at people, you can extend your hand and work towards a greater good. People are more likely to listen to you if you aren't insulting them.

That is, if indeed this is out of a want to truly help the needy and not just a blind attack to vent one's frustrations.

Pets are part of our family. It is a proven fact that they lower our bloodpressure and help with depression. Our pets love us while the homeless guy down the street may just want money for drugs or alcohol.

OK "alpha male" do own own a dog? obviously not if you are asking this question. we do this maybe because the are like humans to us like our children. listen i am one of those people who "fawns" over there pets but i got no problem giving $5 to a homeless guy on the street . so go get a dog and experience what it is like to be loved unconditionally.

Maybe because we KNOW where the $ is going to on our pets.
Maybe we feel good to have unconditional love.
Maybe most pets can't choose their own destiny.
Maybe because pets are helpless and need us more.
Maybe because we have been conned before by the guy on the street, when we offered him a meal with us--but he turned it down because he only wanted the cash--for what? Drugs?
Maybe because we are missing something in our lives to love, and pets just naturally fill the void.

Well, there are people out there who think that the Homeless, simply, "Could change if they wanted to.". That's usually people who've never been there or close to there. Reality is that most people are only a check away from being homeless. Even rich people could loose all of their money.
