Some people believe that immigration from Mexico started only a short while ago.

we have always had an illegal immigration problem. thankfully we have a president with the balls to bring it up for public discussion. love him or hate him, you secretly have to admire the president for doing that.
i dont have all the answers. no one does. illegals are draining our social service programs, that is a fact. illegals are filling a (sadly) necessary place in the fabric of our society, that is a fact. i really do think we need a foreign worker program that allows folks to come in, get a job and pay taxes. on the same hand i think that a person should have to have a clean back ground to be able to come into our country.
i would also like to see an official language in our country. this is an un popular idea to be sure, but it would sure solve several problems at once if every one in this country of ours could talk to one another and understand what each other was saying.
we are ultimately to blame for any short comings that our government has. we vote, and our vote does count. when was the last time you wrote to your congressman? write letters, vote, Pray, and take your vitamins.

It just got alot worse around 10 - 15 years ago. Before that there was some effort to find them and send them back.

This country started off being called The Great Melting Pot because we have had all different types of immigrants coming here FOR A BETTER LIFE. English people, Irish people, Oriental people, Mexicans, and Arabs, etc.. (i'm irish, my family came here on a boat from Ireland)
People come here for the American dream, they want a better life for themselves and their babies, and everyone tells them to go back where they came from. *sigh* What's going on??
