What is the difference between a true breeding pea plant and a hybrid pea plant? Explain completely, and use genotypes to show your answer.

1) A true breeding pea plant will have identical progeny like it self.
RR, PP, rr,pp etc. are the genotypes

2) A hybrid pea plant will have progeny showing variations.
Rr, Pp, rR, pP are the genotypes.

You work out the progeny yourself . Don't expect everything on a platter.

A true breeding pea plant is homozygous, whether it be dominant or recessive. Let us use dominant "A" and recessive "a" as an example. If you breed two true breeding plants, their offspring will always end up with the same genotype.

On the other hand, a hybrid is heterozygous, Aa. Breeding two heterozygotes will have a result of a mix of genotypes. The ratio of such a cross is 1:2:1, AA:Aa:aa.

a true pea plant is grown with all natural sun and water, you just have to have patience, and it need a lot of care, but hybrid plants are not natural, they are mix with other kinds of peas, to make them more productive.
