Walking is definitely healthier. Yes you can get your heart pumping faster while running, but it wears on your knees and ankles. It may feel fine while you're young, but it can cause serious problems over a few years. Walking better retains the body and focuses in a natural motion. It is also recommended by health care pros to walk more than run. If you're a runner and that's what you love to do, that's great. Have at your passion, but know the consequences of frequent running. If you do like to run, I would suggest taking a supplement to help you like glucosamine and boswella to maintain joint health.

Depends where would you be running/walking on pavement? If yes walk poeple always run on pavement but they are wrong it is very bad for their knees, earth or grass is better for running.

Also if you are not a runner it might take you a while to be able to run so start with a brisk walk for a few times and then alternate walking and running (start with 5 mins walk then 2 mins walking 1 mins running for 20 mins then cool down 5 mins walk).

Actually you burn more calories when you alternate speeds also it helps with cardio vascular activity. So do both

Depends on what you are trying to achieve in terms of your fitness and health.

Any physical activity is beneficial and if you are a beginner, walking at a steady pace is a good start. If you want to increase your cardio level fasten your pace and building up your time, then slowly bring in running in say five to ten minute increments. Continuing in this way will allow for your running to increase and ultimately ~ if this is your preference ~ you can run for sixty minutes or more to achieve your fitness goal.

running is better for health unless you have joint problems. running gets your heart rate up, and burns more calories more quickly. I will tell you I'm possitive of hte benefits of running. I have spent months with my daily exercise was a 3 mile run, I lost about 50 pounds. then i spent months doing a 7 mile walk, and I lost 5 pounds. the running improved my mood and also decreased my appetite.

If you are young and in good physical shape then running will be more advantageous for building up one's endurance. If one is older or has problems with the joints, then walking would be less painful and better to accomplish one's goals.

Basically the same. You can run one mile and walk one mile and still burn the same amount of calories. It really depends on the intensity level that is being exerted during walking or running.

If running doesn't cause you problems then run. If it does then it might help to visit a running specialty store where they find the right shoe based on your foot and gait type. Runners can spend less time working out.

Running is a lot better because as it was stated it pumps up your heart beat faster and burns more calories in the process.
