Gin, supposedly gives you a bit less of a hangover than whiskey. Neither is "good" for you.
In most cases, the darker the drink, the worse the hangover. Red wine and Bourbon are the worst for pain the next morning.
After drinking too much alcohol, drink lots of water before you go to sleep. This will greatly lessen your hangover.

Colour doesn't matter. It's the ingredients they contain.
My Dr. once told me that if I HAD to drink I should drink Vodka because it was made from potatoes. But bottom line is neither one is better for you than the other.
alcohol that contains less sugar is better. The sugar often causes the hangovers, headaches etc.

Health wise I think that they are the same. Gin is supposed to put you in a better mood and whiskey makes you more edgy.

Dark liquors are basically light liquors that are aged in barrels. The wood is charred most of the time. Basically, the dark liquor picks up wood sugars and other chemicals from the wood. That doesn't necessarily make one better than the other. The additional chemical elements probably aren't healthy for you but they sure are tasty.

no alcohol is good for you. Medical men will tell you no more than an ounce a day.
