i really dont see the problem with boys playing with dolls, they are only toys and they are far to young too understand or even care about the fact that dolls are apparently for girls and cars for boys etc etc, let the boys decide what they want too play with its not going too have any affect on them, they make there own decisions as they get older come what may!! end of day you see a girl playing with a car or something and no-one bats an eyelid so why should they with boys playing with dolls???
i have 2 boys and i really wouldnt care if my 2 played with dolls!!

I do not think it is unusual at all. I am a physical educator and worry about development for a lot of children ages 2-12. Most boys have a doll/toy of some sort that becomes their form of nuturing. If the doll is a Barbie and he is dressing her/moving her around he is working on fine motor skills which are plus.

If you take it the other way and you think it is beginning a future of bisexuality/homosexuality, I wouldn't get overly excited right now. I have male friends who are gay or bi and some say they never played with dolls, some said it didn't interest them, and others said they hid it from their parents. I wouldn't worry. He's young and just developing motor skills.

Yes, it is abnormal for boys ages 1 - 7 to play with dolls. I haven't heard of boys playing with dolls at all. I thought that was what girls are supposed to play with and boys play with trucks.

I have two brothers and my mom would buy me cars. I grew out it and soon started playing with dolls (so did they).
No, it shows that he has a sensitive side to women. Don't let him think that its weird to pay with dolls. he will develop a shyness to females. By him a toy car or motorbike and let him choose, he'll soon get over the doll.

My son played with dolls at home with his sisters and when he went to Head Start. It teaches them to be better parents. Remember, when children role play they are learning. And if you don't make a big deal out of it he'll grow up with better self esteem as a father.

nope.. I think its sad when parents try to discourage boys from playing with dolls.. after all that boy might grow up to be a DAD some day...
or a doctor...
or somebody who it would be nice if they had some compassion.. which so many boys lack...

not at all- when they're that young they probably just see a toy, rather than a baby doll, it's hard sometimes to tell the difference I think
you should be happy he's using his imagination and learning some responsibility at such a young age (ha ha ha)

Absolutely not. I have 6 kids ages 10 months to 12 years, 4 older boys and the 2 youngest are girls and they have. And yet they still get out in yard and play football and get dirty.

My one brother played barbies with me all the time. My parents never made an issue of it and he eventually outgrew it. I think its because he has a sensitive side. He has treated all of his girlfriends like queens.
