I rebuilt a Mac for my nephew and put Ubuntu OS on it. Is that good? Does it have all the features he'll need to do video production? It has 436 mhz speed.

Mac OS X has built in software called iMovie that workd well for basic video production. As a general rule, Apple computers only work well with other apple parts and software approved for Macintosh.

Ubuntu is going to be as good as you can get for something with 436. Its much too slow to run the best Mac OS, which is OSX 10.4 (Tiger) at the moment, soon to be 10.5 (Lepoard). He really is not going to be able to do any decent video editing with such a slow computer, though.

Btw, Ubuntu is a distro of Linux, so i highly recommend you read up on some tutorials, as Linux is not as user friendly as Mac OS

EDIT: Jaguar is OSX 10.2, not the most recent. FYI

436mhz is not enough for video production especially if he wants quick rendering. The slower the rendering the less the creativity!!
