Recently I've become really good friends with a girl who is a Hasidic Jew and with her brother, but my parents (we're Christian) rant and rave at me every night about it and what a 'terrible influence' they're having on me. They seem to think I have a crush on the boy (NOT true), and they are on the point of banning me from ever getting to hang out with them. And that's not cool, because I want them to feel free to come over to my house whenever they want and not have to deal with how rude my parents are to them. What can I do to make my parents accept my friendship with them and to let us hang out??

Ask the Jewish parents to talk to yours, chances are they'd be happy to. (unless their parents feel the way yours do, in that case I might let the matter drop, because you'll all end up on the wrong end of all the parents.)
Christians aren't the ONLY people in the world and I don't think influence from a good source is all that bad, in this day and age.

Hmm, that mystifies me. I thought Hasidic Jews had very high standards. You could not pick better company to be with. Are your parents afraid you will become Jewish? If your parents read the Bible, I would think they would want to be friends with as many awesome Jewish people as possible, since their ancestors did such a good job of keeping records for so long so we could even have a Bible. Maybe you can all have a discussion about the Dead Sea Scrolls or something.

Tell them Jesus was jewish and if they have a problem with your friends then maybe they have a problem with jesus... be careful with that. Seriously though you need to tell them that just because your hanging out with them doesn't mean that you are going to become a Hasidic Jew. And you can tell them that you got this information from an Atheist (which I am) to show them that being different is nothing to be afraid of.

Your parents are under the influence of Satan and have never understood the words of Jesus, otherwise they would embrace their fellow brother human beings and accept their religous views without thought.

I suggest you ignore your parents and go with what is right. Follow what Jesus has said, be kind to everyone.

You didn't mention how old you are.

Assuming that you are of some reasonably advanced age - I would say that your parents are acting like bigots. Since you are still a minor living in their house (I assume) you have to go by their rules. You could try to talk to them but you probably won't have much luck.

Learn from their example, however.

Nothing. Unfortunately people (including your parents) are still biased towards people that are "different" -- especially from a religious perspective. Stope talking about them in their presence would probably be a good idea since arguing will get you nowhere.

Basically, some people are just like that.. You need to know what their issues are.... Then you need to figure out how to respond to their issues.. How do they think of Chassidim as a "bad influence"?

talk to your parents and tell them that she is a human and that she has feelings like others do. and that it would not be nice to hurt her feelings. tell them that you could invite her over and pray and stuff like that do devotions and stuff. i do a devotion every morning before school. so just try to talk to your parents( i know its very un confortable) but once its through everything will be okay dokay!LOL!

GOOD LUCK

Is it because of the friends or the religion?

If its the religion, you -could- accuse your parents of -predjudice- and limiting your -freedom of religion-.
