In our times 24. There were more of them; actually the latin alphabet stemmed from the greek one, 100%. All latin lettres were boroughed from the ancient greek one. Aeneas, after the
fall of Troy, went to the island of Evia (GR)and got the alphabet brought to Lazio, where the indigents,Etruscans, used to write in a cuneo form. Thus the latin alphabet were born!
In ancient Athenian dialect, there were the F, J and ST, as valid
lettres. Also we can see the S and L in some scriptures or engra
vements as valid lettres as well!
Lettre C was in use before the golden age of Pericles.
But, with the years passing by and man's eaggerness to simplify
languages-thus reducing ability to thinking- greek alphabet got
only 24 of them.-

Yep, 24. There's no W in Greek. Really tough to spell my surname. I spent 3 weeks there this summer and couldn't find anything close to a W sound.

Not sure if/how the greeks get on the web. ;-)

There are 24 - in response to the missing 'W', there was once a letter called digamma that made the W sound, but it dropped out of use.

Of course there is not a letter W, different alfabets use different letters, ok? Yet, you may find the equivalents to the sounds, i.e
William = ΓΟΥΙΛΛΙΑΜ
