We have seatbelt laws, speeding limits, helmet laws, leash laws, laws against littering, laws against carrying conceled weapons, even laws against crossing he street in the wrong place. Why? To keep us safe, right? Then why on earth isnt there a law that prohibits people from foolishly attmping to climb a mountain like Mt Hood or Everest???

I saw on the news tonight that they hae tracking devices that the hikers can rent for $5 to wear o thatif for some reason they do get lost they can be found almost immediately. Why isnt this required?? If we can be required to wear a seatbelt and a helmet why not this too??

There are many sports that are regulated, restricted and outlawed, many due to safety reasons. Ive seen many beautuful mountains, Half Dome many many times, and never once had the desire to climb it...especially in december!! I agree, let people be stupid if it effects only them, but there are rescuers on the mountan having to risk their lives due to the stuidity of others. Essentially we have laws to protect us from stupid people. I think we need a law to regulate or restrict mountain climbing in this country.

Mountain Climbing is a SPORT .. and with any sport there are certain risks. Those who participate in the sport know of the risks when they decide to participate. As a fitness activity, climbing mountains is a healthy one. Would you want to deny those people who know full well the risks from participating in this sport?

i imagine that the human beings favor to signal a freelance pointing out that they climb the mountain with the understanding that no individual may actually help them in the adventure that they discover they're in worry. that is a sad truth, and that i do not opt for to take heed to about it, yet we are dropping too a lot funds on those idiots.

These are laws of man. When you go out to the nature it opens up your sole and makes you want to explore. It is our nature to explore and accept challenges. If you have every been to Mt. Hood you would see the beauty and want to climb it yourself. Accidents happen and it is very unforturnate it happened to these three men.

Government has their hand in to many parts of our lives already. They died doing something they enjoyed. Next they'll be making a law saying it's illegal to make someone mad by giving your opinion over the internet.
