sentences for "food for thought" as to whether to include in your paper or not. Maybe just use these sentences to "spark" other thoughts of your own.
1. There's a fine line between physical punishment and physical abuse.
2. Are you referring to "punishment" or "disciplline"? They can be linked together but you can also have one without the other. Punishment is a negative reinforcer that only hopes to have positive outcomes.
3. You can't have true discipline without first having a relationship. Discipline serves to build a character up and improve them in a positive way, without tearing down any self-esteem and making them feel like they are only subservient to the person inflicting the punishment.
4. The words "physical punishment" have been twisted/distorted to mean a negative act of aggression only teaching children that physical harm is the "proper" way of dealing with someone who doesn't comply with a "set of rules" established either by society or people with parental roles in child care/rearing situations.
5. Is lack of physical punishment the reason for the state of the world we are in now?
6. Physical punishment-vs- Discipline
Good Luck with your paper! There are all kinds of options you can go with this subject.

In the Once and Future King, Merlin challenged Arthur to question the old code of Might makes Right. Abraham Lincoln hoped that we would see that right makes might. If power alone makes us stronger or more right, then physical punishment would be acceptable. One can not help but be afraid that we would be ruled by gigantic cretins whose power alone make them right. So it goes for physical punishment. Adults would not accept their boss hitting them but see no problem in hitting a child. Might doesnt make right.
