Yahoo trolls, recently made homeless by the shutting down of the news article message boards, are vile creatures that post inane drivel and occasionally off-topic nonsense. Since Yahoo chose not to enforce even basic aspects of its user agreement and chose to largely ignore repeated abuse notifications from other users, the troll population exploded like a room full of unsupervised and unspayed rabbits. Finally, critical mass was achieved in late November and the boards closed on December 19. They will supposedly be re-opened later with a new format. Trolls will still exist and unless Yahoo chooses to make troll control more draconian, it will flourish.

In response to Rabbit's message, I would not characterize trolls as merely people that are in reality not what they represent themselves to be. That covers some of it, but here on Yahoo especially, trolls post provocative and/or insulting messages in the hopes of garnering outrages replies from new members or non-trolls who don't see them for what they are. Trolls seek to enflame the community with uncharacteristic behavior and decidedly shocking language.

Unspayed rabbits?
I look forward to a good definition of a troll. In a chatroom I used to frequent, trolls were people who were not what they claimed to be. It could be a man who was with a female handle or designation. It could be--oops that would give away where I was.
I am curious as to what Yahoo's new policy and its definition of troll is, because some might want to point that weapon my way if it is just annoying personalities. My sarcasm does tend to bother a soul now and then, often successfully the target intended, but sometimes others.
I had someone contact me about some of my answers, asking if I worked at a certain company, because there was someone there saying he was me. In that case, I might be accused of being a troll, when actually the other guy really was.
-----------
In regard to the previous messagers kind clarification. I am reminded of being accused of troll-ish behavior when merely telling things the way they used to be, but are not now because of political correctness. Oh, well, I suspect this rabbit is in for a roasting if it falls out as you tell. Thanks.
BTW, speaking thought police and policing actions, if anyone were to report either of us for this dialog, shoot me and leave the one above alone.
