This started about a week ago. If I cancel it it will go away. It comes up then it comes back up when I switch to a different document folder. I have ran different tests and scans that I know and it won't go away. I have searched Microsoft's site and didn't find anything helpful.

A couple month's ago I tried Visio from Microsoft. I used it once and have not needed it since. When I downloaded it it changed Microsoft word from the student teacher 2003 version I had to office word 2003. Not to long ago I uninstalled the Microsoft Visio I downloaded. Probably that is when I created my problem. If I reinstall the student teacher version am I going to create new problems? Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Don't cancel the install. It may say that some files are missing and may ask you insert MS Office CD.Put the CD and let it complete the install. You won't be having any problems then.
I too had the same problem.

I'm guessing this is microsoft office as this is typical behaviour for a non-existant userprofile FOR Office products. And that you have the software installed. MS Office can actually be installed as a link to the source that only installs when the software is actually to be used.

When any MS office product is used for the first time it creates a user profile for all office products(in the registry) for the current user. This profile stores things like your Name, Initials and other user preference data.

If the profile is damaged or erased etc then the process will start again (This profile information is NOT removed by a simple unistall though). The process should be fast to complete provided the software has access to the installation source.

If you continue cancelling it wil never go away.

Had the same problem. You need to reinstall you Microsoft Office program. If you use the same version that you already are using all you have to do is run the installation and it will fix everything.

This often occurs once you have a application that turns into corrupted and it particularly is attempting to repair its self. whilst this occurs insert the CD for this methodology that's making an attempt to reinstall so as that it may grab the mandatory records. as quickly as the utility is exact reinstalled this would possibly not ensue lower back until it turns into corrupt lower back. as an occasion you get a field that comes up identify bar says microsoft works and says on the ingredient to installation has a eco-friendly line entering into the process like it particularly is copying records. then it ought to request a report and you in all possibility cancel the installation. as a substitute put in the works CD to repair the installation and you'd be stable to pass.

Something has been trying to finish installing...maybe something that was not completed. Also, in some cases (especially with microsoft office softwares) additional features need to be installed after some use because they are not commonly used features. Try to let it finish what it is trying to do and see what happens.
