If your friend isn't a professional, I wouldn't let her do it. She can really hurt you...meaning burning your skin....if she isn't careful, if the wax is too hot you can get 2nd or even 3rd degree burns which leave scars!
You can wax your legs at home, but as with many beauty procedures, a professional can usually do a better, more efficient job (with less mess). The hair needs to be pulled at a 40-degree angle and the cloth strips need to be yanked quickly, both hard feats to accomplish if you aren't a trained professional. Cold-wax strips are easier to use at home, but they often don't stick as well to the hairs as hot wax does. When doing it yourself, try a transparent wax so you can see the hairs that have been covered and determine the direction of their growth. As with all products you're using for the first time, try the wax on a small area of skin before proceeding, you may have an allergic reaction.
Waxing hurts anywhere, it just depends on your pain tolerance.
I had my legs professionaly waxed once. It was painful and the results weren't so great for me. My legs had raised bumps afterwards...I never did get that smooth, silky feel. So for me, it was a painful waste of money. (I went to an upscale salon too)
Just curious...what is your friends age?

Yes it is going to hurt - I have been waxing for 7 years and the first time is the worst. Over time the hairs get thinner and some don't come back so I stuck with it but it is not an easy thing to do. If you are really scared do a small area first and don't grow it out too long - the longer it is the worse it hurts.

Unless your friend is a professional, don't let her touch your legs. You don't have to be a rocket scientist, but a professional
esthetician should wax you. You could get burned or bruised
by a non-professional. And, the products in beauty supply
stores are for professional people. The other products are not
that good. By the way, it doesn't hurt if you know what your doing.

Yes it will hurt, especialy around the ankles. If you want to numb the area, you can do it VERY cheaply, but you cant be embarassed easily.
Why? Because you'll have to go to the store and buy anti itch cream for womens private area. Its by the douches, lubes, pregnancy tests, condoms, feminine products etc.
See what I mean about embarassed.
The equate kind is only about $2, and has 20% benzocaine, plus another skin numbing ingrediant I cant think of right now.
Good luck!

The worst part abour getting your legs waxed is the burning of the wax... but dont worry... even that is not sooo bad...use ice .... rub the ice on your legs after that section has been waxed...
P.S. to get that sticky feeling off, use baby oil after a shower ... it helps get the sticky wax off and it makes your skin smooth
~~Good Luck~~ ;)

you know when you get hot wax on you it only burns for a second? thats exactly how waxing your legs is. the hair removal doesnt really hurt, but your skin "sings" for a minute. Rub it and it feels fine. Why dont you start with your eyebrows? i get mine done every 12 days. im immune anymore.

It will hurt really bad, make sure your friend knows what she is doing, my friend waxed her legs herself, and ended up ripping skin off, so just make sure that your friend has done it before, and knows exactly what she is doing.

Everyone has a different level of pain they can handle. My girlfriend gets her underarms, legs, bikini, and moustache done all the time without any hassles. I had my lower legs done once and screamed all the way through and never went back. Was like having your skin peeled! Have fun!

It's gonna hurt like you can't imagine but as women we can handle the pain for smooth legs. A man would never let them get past the first strip but you can do it.

Yes, it's probably going to hurt a bit. Take a painkiller (aspirin, tylenol, acetominophen, ibuprofen) about 1/2 hour before she does it.
Good luck!
