You may need to increase your potassium. Bananas are a great source of potassium.

Cramps are usually caused by one of two things - dehydration, or more commonly, an imbalance of certain vitamins. You need to have a balanced diet of magnesium (Mg), potassium (K), and calcium (Ca). If you are lacking one of these your muscles don't have the nutrients they need to function properly and cramps occur. Ideas of where to get these vitamins are in the links I gave you. They also give you a better understanding of the amounts you need.
Good luck!

Yup, potassium. Eat a banana every day. No special exercise, but during a leg cramp it can help if you try to point your toes up toward your knee.

Stretching. Especially standing on your tip toes and reaching up. Stretch your muscles. You could even try some mild pain reliever. Potassium rich food may help if you think you are low. Try drinking OJ or having a banana.

Well, not sure if you have night cramps, but a co worker told me to try this (actually for my husband). Take a regular bar of soap and put it between the mattress. It works! I have no idea why. Replace it every 6 months (and use it for yourself). Take it out of the wrapper.

I recently asked my doctor that very question. Since I had recently had a blood panel, he checked my electrolytes and they were normal. So he just said that it is most likely stres and not to worry too much about it. It happens to a lot of people.
