The high amounts of caffeine and taurine in these drinks can cause increased heart rate and arrhythmias as well as dehydration. They also cause headaches in some people, which is possibly a symptom of dehydration. Liver damage is also possible from extended use of these products.

Most are high in sugar and caffeine content - I am the CEO for Extreme Energy and the leader of the Xtreme Business Team (which my business is free to join by the way, see the web site). We market a healthy energy drink - It is the first energy drink to hit the market in the form of a powder so you can mix it with any liquid of your choice and you can mix it up no matter where you are at as it comes in easy to carry packets that fit easily in your pocket or purse and cost on average around $1 per drink. I personally mix mine 2 times a day in a bottle of Dasani Lemon water, shake it up and enjoy. If you or anyone else would like a FREE SAMPLE from Energy Extreme simply visit the site, fill out the request form, and in a few days you will have it in the mail

Actually, Taurine is a natural occuring enzyme in your stomach that aides in digestion.

The only really 'bad' thing about energy drinks is a) you can get too much taurine, your body can stop naturally producing it (same as too much creatine, your body produces creatine, if you use too many supplements, your body wont need to make it anymore) or b) you can get too much caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant. It can raise your blood pressure and increase your heart rate. Also, Guarana adds a huge amount of caffeine.

and by the way, there are numerous alcoholic energy drink on the market. FOUR, Sparks, Tilt, B^e, only to name a few (try FOUR< its amazing)

energy drink has two to three times the amount of caffeine as a soda and at least twice the amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee.

caffeine in certain drinks can increase the chances of dehydration.

There have been reports of young people dying, possibly as a result of mixing of alcohol and energy drinks.
