If not, what are my other banking options? How much extra does it cost to use an American credit card in Paris?

I work for Washington Mutual, and to my knowledge, we do not have any WaMu ATMs abroad. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I bank with Washington Mutual here in the US, and used my ATM card that's tied to my checking account all over France (no there aren't any WaMu's). The only problem I had was trying to withdraw too much at once. I think the limit on my account was $300 per day and I was try to withdraw more than that when the conversion of Euros to Dollars took place. The ATM just said "transaction denied" or something equally obscure. Moral of the story: know that 100 Euros is about $135. When you use an ATM, you will be charged a fee, but I think you'll still come out ahead over any of the other options (credit card, traveler's checks, or the dreaded currency exchange desk).

I didn't see one on a quick search. I live in El Salvador and Wamu charges me $3 (or $4?) +1% total transaction. If I were you I would call them and find out. A debit card should be fine, but always have a backup.Traveler's checks, credit card etc. The best thing I've found is to have someone you can really trust on your account, then if all else fails, at least you'llhave options on how to get to your dough. Call Wamu 1800 756 8000. Bon voayge.
