Last name doesn't mean they are his. Even if the first name matches. Besides, if he wasn't married it's likely the mother gave the child her last name not the fathers. Also, they don't even have to put him on the birth cert at all...so checking vitals won't help. Although, you can check records for child support.

If you live in Summit County, Ohio I can help you. I do this for a living.

If you are uneasy about it and feel there is more to be told...tell him. If he can't be honest about this is not worth your time!

Just realized - he's your HUBBY?

Why in the world did you marry this man that you can't trust enough to tell you his past history. If he's hiding this what else is he hiding from you?

I hope you realize you are better than this. And, if you are pregnant with his child you both will be better off without him. Sometimes marriage doesn't make a bad situation better.

Keeping you in my prayers...

A last name is irrelevant to determining paternity. Have you looked in your phone book lately? How many people named "Smith" are there and what are the chances that they are directly related to each other?

Of course, a more germaine question is why this is an issue. It sounds like there is something big and secret going on there - if so, and you don't trust him, then why are you married to him?

Some counties keep Birth records online, you can do a search of the last name that way. Its listed under register of deeds. That search may pull up alot of names because most only allow searching for child's name then will show the parents.

Uh, not to directly answer the question you raise... but rather the one you infer...

If you have to ask this question, then your relationship is dead. If you want to, you can revive it... but right now it is dead.

If you find out that he does have other kids, then you'll have an answer. But, if you don't find any, the you won't be any closer to being sure -- after all, how do you prove a "negative" (no kids) like this?

You either need to get a marriage therapist, or a divorce lawyer -- your choice.

Why wouldnt you just ask him? If he knows about them and if there is any that he doesn't know about they probably dont have the same name. Think wisely about what your doing though, Cause what you saying in not so many words is your husband is a whore! Not exactly what anyone wants to hear their loved ones call them!

Good luck on that one. You'll have to know the mothers name. I think you can probably look at vital statistics. That is where you usually order birth cert from.
