thinking of joining the NCARNG, would like to find a list of open positions without listening the the recruiters and their sales pitch! I'm a big boy and I can make decisions all by myself.

You can find LOCAL openings at the unit if you get in touch with them. A recruiter will have openings for all the units in the state. Not all units have the same jobs available so talking to a recruiter isn't a bad idea. Yes, you will have to deal with a recruiter to join. I was a recruiter and am still in the Guard. Dealing with a recruiter is easy if you are straight up with him and have your act together. It's only a pain when you hide things that show up later, like burning up the bottle on the urinalysis or law violations etc. Hope your search goes well and you join us!

You should go to an armory that is within a distance you are willing to drive. The full time personnel should be able to help you with letting you know what slots they have open. At some point in the deal you will have to work with a recruiter. One thing to keep in mind is that the Guard recruiters don't tend to move around like the recruiters in the other components. That means they will have to face you after Basic and AIT so they, IMO, are less likely to mislead you.

Yeah, find the unit, and ask their personnel office.
