Church leaders are human, and issues of faith are often difficult to put into words. But don't let him give up. Look for one of others in leadership at the church. If your church is of any size, you'll find pastor, assistant pastor(s), elders, perhaps deacons, and sometimes counseling ministries.
This is actually a great opportunity for you and your husband to dig into the Word and find the answer together! Buy or borrow a good study Bible and search the answer out as a couple. It'll draw you two closer.

Yes, I questioned a pastor at a church I was considering joining. He was preaching on something, and I thought I MUST have been mistaken; up 'til then he was right with the BOOK on everything. When I specifically asked him privately afterwards about it, he started getting very defensive and ended up accusing me of calling him a heretic. I told him I didn't think any such thing, I just believed the scriptures were very clear that he was wrong. I wouldn't call a fellow believer a heretic if they were a true believer; we may disagree on some things......but this was a BIG thing!

Yeah my sister once questioned a priest after mass about heaven because his homily had been on that topic and he was saying only people of certain faiths would be accepted in the kingdom of god. She wanted to know if her friends who weren't catholic would be accepted into heaven. She got the look. She was told that no, they wouldn't be. That was the last time I've seen my sister set foot in a catholic church so I guess she's bitter too, but I don't blame her really.

That is how I got kicked out of Conformation classes at age eleven. They just don't like honest questions that they can't answer. That's why I will celebrate my 41st year as a committed Atheist in a couple of days.

Well when you encounter questions and you are seeking answers don't be moved by peoples opinions. Ask God for the answer and in His timing He will reveal it to you and you will find that it will be at just the right time.

but he wouldn't give me that look, he knows i am way too smart to believe something just because it was written in a spooky book.
he gave me that look like ....
"omg, now how do i prove her wrong?"
so, he just said "god bless you my child" , but i know he meant
"go to hell and shut up".
