Is it OK if he does it. I see lots of birds doing it but my bird does it non-stop. Why do they do it?

My tiel does it when he wants out of the cage. He also does it when he wants a response to his banging, I usually knock on the table and he responds and will reply by flying to me for treats and or some kind of conversation. He says ciao, I say hi and he starts singing and dancing. I film this and hope to be able to show others. Your tiel is fine just wants tons of attention.

We got our flock of 1 female and 2 male cockatiels a nesting box to see who would get Nala (the female)...

All they did was bang on the box, bang on the box...

They do it to show there teriorty, and to call females over...

Once a pair was gotten together, it'll take the male a couple of weeks to get the nesting box ready. He has to chew on the box, eat the box, mark the box, and bang on the box. He'll go throu chwing on the hole, then going inside and banging on the wood, go outside, bang there, then chew the hole again, then reaggange the wood chippings, the get on top of the box and sit there for a while.
After he's done, he'll let the female in, and if she dosen't like it, they do this over again. After they both like it, they'll mate, then wait for the eggs.

this is a kind of..mating signal. kinda like "hey come over to my place cutie" kind of thing. it's normal, my 'tiel does this too. but if it's non-stop, i'm not so sure. ask you avian certified vet about this (find one near you here: www.aav.org/vet-lookup ) hope this helps and good luck!

They do this to keep their beak trimmed and if he is doing it in sort of a side to side motion he is just cleaning his beak.
