For my Birthday my mom said she would take me down to the ink shop and let me get something since i have been talking about getting a tattoo for a long time. The only thing that is in my way now is iam in the middle of the hockey season and my dad doesnt think that i should get one until hockey is over due to chance of infection. i say if put plastic over it and keep it wet i should be fine. Will some one please tell me if it would be ok to get a tattoo if i had about 5 days off from then return with my tattoo still healing with slim chances of infection?

NEVER ever put plastic on a tattoo and never ever keep a tattoo wet. You can consult with the artist who will doing your work but most of us will tell you not to tattoo when you are going to be involved in a lot of heavy physical activity over the next few days. Same with immediate sun exposure, etc.

It sounds, if I understand this right, that you have a five day break before you will play again. Depending on the tattoo and the location, the odds are that the artist may approve of this.

Serious infections such as staph can and do occur and your father is just looking out for your best interest. Good luck with that!

Man get that tatt.If you use the instructions they give you when you get it you'll be fine.5 day is the number of days that they will tell you to put the meds on it.So, if you take off 5 days everything will be fine.I have 28 tatts and work outside on a golf course for 10 to 12 hours a day and all of mine came out fine. Man get that tatt!! Tell dad dont worry IT WILL BE OK! Happy B-Day Have fun and get tatted.

Although it's not likely that you will get an infection, it is possible. The concern your neglecting is how will your activity affect the pictures quality. If a scab gets picked off, you will loose color. If you keep it to moist color will drain. If you keep it covered in saran wrap your skin cant breath, it will stay to moist and actually become a breeding ground for bacteria. It depends on the placement, but if it will be rubbed on by your clothing, knocked into or get filthy your dad is correct!

i wouldnt risk doing it before the hockey season is over. i'm not sure about the infection, but it might cause irritation due to sweat, clothes rubbing it, etc. just a lot of discomfort unless its really tiny.

I have 5 tattoos and my daughter has more then that we have never gotten and infection from any of them. My daughter got one on her shoulder and went camping for a week in the middle of summer and nothing happened. Just do what the artist tells you to do and you should be fine

I agree with the first answer also. Check with the artist at the shop. After all he is a pro.
