Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians; they teach that Christ was and is divine and of the same nature as God.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!

Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. They do NOT celebrate so-called "Christmas" because "Christmas" does NOT celebrate Christ; "Christmas" celebrates the pagan Saturnalia. Jesus was not even born in December. Nearly all so-called Christmas customs dishonor Christ.

(Jeremiah 10:2-5) This is what Jehovah has said: "Do not learn the way of the nations at all... 3 For the customs of the peoples are just an exhalation, because it is a mere tree out of the forest that one has cut down, the work of the hands of the craftsman with the billhook. 4 With silver and with gold one makes it pretty. With nails and with hammers they fasten them down, that none may reel. ...the doing of any good is not with them."

Similarly, Christendom's so-called "Easter" celebration actually honors the pagan god Oestre and celebrates "rebirth" and "fertility" instead of commemorating Christ's Last Supper and death as Jesus commanded.

On reflection, it's quite tragic that the one holiday Christ actually *DID* ask Christians to commemorate is entirely ignored by almost all of Christendom. It is, of course, the Memorial of Christ's death, sometimes called "the Last Supper" or "the Lord's Evening Meal".

(1 Corinthians 11:23-25, NWT) The Lord Jesus in the night in which he was going to be handed over took a loaf... Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” 25 He did likewise respecting the cup.. Keep doing this... in remembrance of me.”

(1 Cor 11:24, 25, NEB) "Do this as a memorial of me.”

Christ Jesus himself personally celebrated and explained the significance of that Last Supper to his followers (see Matthew 26:26-29). Christians who commemorate the Last Supper have done so on the same Jewish calendar date as Jesus did, Nisan 14, which generally falls between late March and mid-April. Interestingly, Christians in the centuries immediately after Christ's impalement were sometimes called "Quartodecimans" which literally mean "Fourteen-ers", because the early Christians were well-known for this true holy day.

How would Jesus feel to learn that the holiday he commanded was widely ignored, while his so-called followers chose to celebrate a pagan false god and their own traditions of men? We don't need to wonder.

(Matthew 15:6-9) You have made the word of God invalid because of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about you when he said, 8 ‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.’”

I am not sure of the Mormon opinion on Christmas and Easter, I will let a Mormon answer that. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. We do not celebrate Christmas or Easter as the roots of the celebrations are in no way Christian.

Mormons celebrate Christmas and Easter; they really celebrate any holiday that is native to whatever country they live in. Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t celebrate Christmas, but they do have a meeting to commemorate Christ’s birth which I think is cool. Jehovah’s Witnesses also do not celebrate Easter in the essence of getting a new Easter dress, and chocolate bunnies, and eggs and all that. I do not know for sure if they have a commemoration meeting for Christ’s resurrection, but it wouldn’t surprise me. Jehovah’s Witnesses do not (as far as I know) celebrate any holiday regardless of location or nationality.

Jehovah's Witness do not celebrate Christmas or Easter.

Jehovah's Witness do celebrate the Memorial of the observance of the Last Supper and only then the one hundred and fourty four thousand are the only ones who partake of the "emblems"...the unleavened bread and the wine, usually there is no one claiming to be of this remnant in the local congregations; but, it is still a celebration. the only celebration for the witnesses.

However they do celebrate anniversaries...and that's about it!

as far as the mormons are concerned...i could care less!

I believe Mormons celebrate Christmas...you know the Mormon Tabernacle choir at Christmas.
As for Jehovah Witnesses we do not celebrate any secular holidays. We celebrate Nisan 14 the remembrance of the Lords evening meal, when Jesus broke bread to symbolize his body and drank red wine to symbolize his blood, for these were the perfect sacrifices Jesus was offering up to Jehovah to save "us" his followers. It is called the MEMORIAL, not Easter we celebrate the memorial in remembrance of what Jesus came to earth to do. He came as a perfect human to be a perfect sacrifice for our sins, so that we may have that hope "most" of us have everlasting life here on earth where Jehovah intended his chosen people to reside in perfection.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate any holidays that have pagan origin. Proof of the origin can be found in any encyclopedia.

However, we commemorate Jesus' death every year on Niacin 14. The EXACT date he had the Last Supper with his apostles.

I believe Mormons do celebrate those holidays.

Mormons celebrate Christmas with the strongest focus on Jesus Christ and His Gospel. Secondly, we carry on the Christmas traditions for our children.

The same goes for Easter celebrations. We focus ever so strongly on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, but then allow our little ones to enjoy the tradition of the Easter egg hunt.

Mormons celebrate all holidays, except for other religions holidays. And our dictrine really isn't similar to Jehovah Witnesses. Oh, and by the way, we are Christians. This is a common misconception, but our church's real name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Check out www.Mormon.org for more information about what we believe.
