Because Jesus says "I am the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through me" John 14:6. Jesus is the gateway to our Lord, even in praying. The bible tells us to ask these things Jesus' name.

Those of The True Christian Faith pray in The Name of Christ Jesus to God... we may pray to Jesus as the only intersessor for mankind to God.
When Christ Jesus walked this earth 2000 yrs ago he was both fully God and fully man... the man was transformed into an incoruptable body and lifted to heaven and now is manknd's advocate

Christians pray in the name of Jesus so that God will hear and answer our prayers. For example, if someone came up to you and just started rattling off some requests how fast are you going to listen to or even help them with their requests. Now lets say that same person came up to you and said "Your son sent me...." How quick or in more detail are you going to listen and help them then?

after original sin God was cut off from His people God cannot be in the presence of sin. so God appointed priests to serve as mediators from humans to God. This was in waiting for gods promise His new covenant of the Messiah. Jesus came as the visible human image of God, died sin free, we now pray in Christs name to God. Jesus is our mediator to God. When we are born again in Christ, God sees His Son, and we thus have a direct connection to God through Jesus. When we show faith in jesus we show faith in God, because they are one in the same. and Jesus says the only way to the Father is through the Son.

Jelly,
I pray to Him who is God and to the Son of God! This is my belief and I am not asking you to believe, just explore the possibilities!
Do you honestly believe that all of this came about by chance? Seriously??? Very highly unlikely!!!
To whom do you pray (give thanks)? Do you not believe in a higher power? IMHO, you should consider this!
We pray to Him who is our salvation, out God, our Savior! Jesus said that "Were it not true, I would have told you so!"
I have to believe in this! Even the wisest man to have existed (Albert Einstien), believed in a higher power! How can you not?

We pray to Jesus because he paid the supreme sacrifice for us so we don't have to. Then he proclaimed "none go through my father except through me". Thats Why!
