Recently, I went to one of my friend's weddings (and my "date" was my best friend.) Anyways, my best friend said something to me like "Her husband is good looking. He looks different from his picture, he looks better in real life" "And I said, yeah, he does look different." One of the girls sitting at our table, who was also the bride's friend told the bride that we said this. The bride (and her "posse") got mad and weren't speaking to me or my best friend all night. Was what we said really that rude?

I'm not in the bride's posse because even though I'm a close friend of hers, I don't know any of her friends. Nor do I want to get to know them, cuz they're all mean.

I don't think it is rude at all.
However I know from experience that on your wedding day you are VERY stressed out, and are expecting everything to go wrong.
What I would do is apologize for hurting her feelings and explain that was actually a compliment. Than tell her how beautiful she looked. She will forget the whole thing ever happened =)

Not really. Pictures only take a microsecond snapshot of someone. This could be like a imperfect moment. Plus, pictures are distorted and most of the time aren't taken at the right moment. Maybe you have a mad face or you take a deep breath and it makes you look like you're high. I mean it takes a quick frame of someone's life and thats it. In real life, everyone is more lively and you get to see every bit of the real person instead of that microsecond of imperfection. By the way, people dress up a lot nicer for a wedding than for a picture. The bride and her hooligans had no reason to get upset. Besides, who really cares you should be mad at the girl who snitched.

It's not rude and you really don't know what actually was told to the bride by the nosey body. They say a picture is worth a thousand words but up close and personal is a much better judge of character.

Not at all. I would take it as a compliment, cause I hate the way I look in pictures! I would hope I look better in person, I guess it depends on the person though. Pictures can be deceiving sometimes. So I wouldn't worry about them saying it was rude. Besides, everyone is entitled to an opinion! Right?!

no that's not rude at all, most normal people would consider that a compliment. There are some people who look better in pictures than in real life, the bride should be thankful she doesn't have it that way.

All you said was pictures do not do him justice? They read too much into it ;they thought you had judged the man to be unattractive before you saw him in person. Maybe she is insecure and doesn't like other women discussing her husband. Her attitude her problem!!! and what is with the little snitch very weird. If she ever calls you on it and is rude about it . Tell her you were wrong to say he was more good looking than his picture showed, the lighting was bad and he is just as goofy looking as in his picture.

Not at all. It is generally considered a compliment to say that someone looks better in person. I met Paulina Porizkova (the model) once and--even though she is regarded as someone whose photos need no retouching--I told her she was more beautiful in person and she thanked me. That is the proper response.
My guess is that the bride was upset because she spent a wad of money on photos which weren't flattering.

I'd consider that a compliment. If someone looks better in real life, isn't that a plus? It's better than saying the picture looks better than him. I think it might've been rather immature for her to stop talking to her wedding guest just because they said her husband looks different on paper. Doesn't everyone?

I wouldn't think so. I look horrible in photographs, so I always take it as a compliment if someone says I don't look like my picture.
It could just be one of those situations where it's like you tell someone they look nice today but then they take that to mean they've looked like a mess for the past month. People try to read into those things way too much.

Hell no thats not rude! In fact its a compliment. Would you rather look better on a piece of paper or in real life? Perhaps they were just really sensitive and emotional on their wedding day, and that immature b*tch that told on you should grow up and try not to ruin weddings.
