HELP!!! My tattoo turned out the black color i wanted it-at first, but its healing and the color looks grey and it looks as if it leaked into other parts of my skin. I know i can go in for a touch up but should it really be that necessary? What if i go in for a touch up and it just keeps happening?I followed all the directions given to me and even looked up information of my own to be well educated on what i was about to do. I know i did what i was supposed to do in the healing process; I had my konji symbol of hope done 5 days ago today. This place has been known to do great tattoos, but maybe not my artist ??? I don't know!?! HELP.

Yea i am going to go back to the tattoo artist, but theres no harm in asking right? "GD person!" My tattoo artist said there there should be a scab and that i should put curel ultra healing lotion on it about 4 times a day but to not have it gooped on there and over moisturized. How do i know if i didnt moisturize enough?

You have a right to be concerned.
1. You should have been told by your artist the transition your tattoo will take, therefore you would know that the healing period may make it look grayish while that top layer of skin (epidermis) is still transitioning after peeling.

2. Color "leaking" into other parts of the skin is NOT normal and not part of the healing process. These are likely "blowouts" from overworking the skin.

3. You are concerned that the shop is good, but maybe not your artist. I will not gain a popularity vote here from my fellow artists but some with the rock star mentality place kanji and tribals "beneath" them and the better artists pawn them off on apprentices and crappy artists who are famous for overworking the skin on these types of designs - back to #2 about the blow outs.

The lesson here is don't go by the shop reputation alone - always look at work done by the artist you will be having. If it is a very busy shop with a **** load of artists and people are taking numbers at the door, sorry to say but you will not be in for much quality at a quantity shop.

It will take at least two weeks to see what you are left with and if you need more work, I would advise waiting at least four weeks. I would say if the blow outs are very noticeable, go somewhere else. My God, if they can't even do Kanji, they don't deserve your business and can't be trusted to clean it up, either.

Additional comments to your additional comments:

Scabbing IS NOT normal...peeling happens but a scab forms from overworked tattooing or not proper care during the first few hours. Scabs are from a build up of fluids to "shore up" damaged tissue.

MORE:

Regarding moisturizer - what you should have been told to you is to not put too much lotion on it because it will keep it too moist and can harbor bacteria and it will also collect bacteria as well by too much there. Just put enough like you would when normally applying a lotion.

Well that kinda happens and you should be fine! I think you should go and discuse this with the artist that did it! After 2 weeks go to the artist show him/her what you talked about and see from there! You might not need a touch up! you need to keep it moisturized well! you can see if it gets dry because the skin will look dry around it! it will look like it's pulling so keep some unscented lotion maybe lubriderm or curel! Keep it clean and away from the sun light!

Truthfully there is no way to know until its on you.The best thing to do to make sure you get the best tatt is to let a pro do it.Also make sure that the tatt you get is for you,but you will never know if it shitty until its too late.It might be the person who did it,so go and ask another artist with experience, they should know. You need to go to the artist that did yours and ask whats going on because the ink IS NOT suppose to spread. I hope that your tatt comes out right and you decide to get more,I love tatts.I have 28 of them and I want more. So, just stick to the pros and you'll be fine.dont let this shy you away from getting more.you'll find the right artist for you! **!!*CUTTHROAT*!!**

Chillllllll!!!!! It will gray out while healing and then it will brighten up, You have uncolored cells that are rising to the top to be shed. This can take sevearal days to weeks. Once it has been given time, you will see it all start to come together

calm down...it takes weeks to heal completely. Its going to look different, its probably scabbing...when it stops healing, then it should look ok ,and if it looks like crap, and its blotchy or a mess, then you didnt do enough research on the establishment where you got it done.

Please, calm down.
Give it some time to really heal before you start spazzing.
Talk to the person who did your tattoo.
