Depends a lot on the season. High one (December thru March: travel agent almost a must since most places are fully booked. Low one: easy to find accommodation everywhere.

you can see a travel agent and let them plan the holiday for you or you can plan it yourself and surf the net. that way, you get to know a little bit more of the place first before you get there. Just don't settle for the first site that looks good. i suggest you contact 3-5 resorts/hotel first and then gauge for yourself. there are usually ratings anyaway. good luck!!!

I like adventure; usually I will search on line to gather information’s. How to reach that’s place, which are the famous hotel at that area, what are the facilities they have, and depends whom I’m going with.

In Thailand, I can always go to the place and find a place to stay for the holiday. It is not difficult.

find a really nice beach you wants to spend sometime at....
it can be phukets, phi phi, pattaya, etc...
and from there find out the accomodation and cost. internet is a good place to start with
