I am thinking about becoming a Registered nurse, but some of my friends who got into it told me that it's very hard, however, I feel that i can do it, plus it pays good money, but I am just kind of confused by the fact that i might be ending up not liking it or finding it frustrating.

If that subject really interest you then don't bother about waht your friends say, go for it.

I'm a Paramedic major and I have torun clinicals with the nurses, it's incredible, if you even have a remote interest in medicine try it! The people that I've met and the experiances I've had at the hospitals and around the people are awsome. THe amount of knowledge I've gained is incredible too. I started out just wantint to be a medic, maybe a firefighter, but after this semester I'm definately going to nursing school. Try it if you don't like it you can always find something else, but the least you can do is give it a shot. You might find a passion!

I have worked in the medical field for 20 years. Nurses are the backbone of the hospital and make everything happen. It is very hard and demanding work but it is satifying. You can specialize in different fields such as, pediatrics, geriatrics, emergency, surgical and so on. If you like people and can get past the few rude patients it is a worthwhile occupation. There is a bigger demand for travel nurses and it pay a lot more than most hospital jobs. Good Luck.

It pays very well, you can often be out of college in three years, and demand for RNs is extremely high. You have alot of chances to make a difference. It's a good field to get into. Of course it has its low points, the worst of which seems to be dealing with CNAs (nursing assistants). That's just what the RNs I know say.

Yes Maya, by all means, the number of nurses required in the future are going to outnumber the doctors by a multiple of 5. You can always specialize into a field that you do like. Canadian nurses receive such good training they are sought after by alot of American states who try to lure them to come to that part of America and nurse there. Good luck.

May not be exciting, but lots of job opportunities (wide variety), so even if you don't like what you are doing, you can move around withing the field. As for being hard, you will need to study hard in any field, but if you are accepted into a program, you have the same potential as anyone else in the program (they don't except people they think won't make it through)..

Exciting?!?!? Heck ya! I work in a HUGE neuro ICU and we see it all. We have the sickest to the sickest patients. It is always exciting and fast paced. I essetially am responsible for regulating every body system a person has at times. For example someone with a really bad brain injury may have to be put into a coma. In reality what we are doing is shutting down their brain, giving it a rest and controlling their body systems manually. We have a ventillator breathing for them, drugs controlling blood pressure (which we manipulate)....etc. It's way cool but takes a lot of knowledge. You have to be able to think on your toes and really understand what is going on with your patients.

my mom was a nurse and i watched her go through nursing school its hard work, but she really enjoyed being a nurse and it payed great, plus you get offers like being a traveling nurse which to me would seem worth the work

yes its a good major very good money and easy to find a job because places such as doctor office,hospital,nursing homes etc are always looking for nurses

I heard it was hard too... BUT I am very determined and I decided that no matter what bump comes my way I will endure and get my RN. So far I'm having a lot of fun.
