I have a christmas stocking and want to put word art on it saying 'Merry Christmas' and it wont let me put word art on top of it. When I put a text box it is white and the stocking is red.

right click on the picture which you want to send back and select send behind.

You can change the background on Word Art by right clicking on it and formatting it. Make sure you layer the objects so that the word art is on top.

When you click on the picture, it should pop up a picture editing toolbar, choose grouping and send to front for the text, or send to back for the picture. Good Luck

Insert your image. Add word art then right-click to get sub-menu and click on FORMAT WORDART. Click on the layout tab and click on the ‘in front of text’ button and click on OK. Then you can left click on the text and move it or use your arrow keys to move it.

Don't forget to change the fill area around the text to 'no fill color' or 'transparent' if that's an option. ... that will get rid of the white color.
