I'm against the war and the lies of our government, and I got accepted to the college I always wanted to go to. But that means moving to a city alone and without more than a 50% chance for success given my history in college. The army feels pretty good.

You should. Actually, half of men should join the Army. They should help defend the country/state/republic/kingdom from whatsoever humiliating, attacking, assaulting, threatening, or conquering it. Why should ??
I firmly believe that the world's not getting better. 50 years, or maybe only 20 years from today, nations will rise against one another, and that will require strong, capable & tough guys, not they who already get used to having their pathetic life spoilt, to protect, or even fight back (counter-attack).
Joining the Army doesn't mean that you're stuck in it. You may develop your other potentials even sooner, depending on which country/state/republic/kingdom you're in now. But, most of them give priority to the soldiers, people who do their best for the sustainability of the place where they live in.
Good luck !!!

If you are against the war, why would you join the army? It's a no-brainer. I know the US gives a lot of education benifits to people who join the army but if you don't support what it means to serve the government then you are being just as bad as the lying government because you are manipulating a system to serve your own wants.

Nope I wouldn't join the army at this time. Why? Iraq for one. You'll end up going and trust me you don't want to do that. Your afraid of being in a city alone? How about a different country? Go to a college closer to home. You'll be fine!

Don't join the army to escape your true path in life. If you feel it is the right thing for you to do - in your heart - then go for it. It is a noble calling. Just be aware that you will probably be sent into a war zone. Make sure your family is behind you because if something happens to you they need to understand that you joined because it was your passion and you died for a noble cause.

I think that you should. I feel like it is a great honor to serve your country, even if you are not fighting in Iraq. The Army teaches you discipline and if you do want to go to school, the Army will help with that.

Not a good idea if you are against the war, since they send you wherever they want, not where you want.
