You could be sick. You could have pulled a muscle, after all your tongue is a muscle. Did you chew something wrong? Did you have it pierced? Allergies. Are you eating the same things daily, if so maybe you are reacting to them. 3 weeks would be too long for me to wait to see a dr. go to an ears/nose/throat doctor, hopefully they can help. Also try to gargle with warm water and salt, a few times a day. You could have a bacterial/viral infection.
Did you just have dental work done, do you smoke a lot? There are many things it coould be from. Definately go get expert advice.

Good luck.

they're probably canker sores, which are caused by the herpes virus...yes, the same virus that causes the sexually transmitted disease, but just a different strain. no, it doesnt mean you had oral with anybody or anything like that, it's just a different type of the same virus. my mom had canker sores on the back of her tongue and they were so painful she had to go to the doctor. she rinsed her mouth with salt water several times a day and that seemed to help.

You may have recently developed a food allergy you never had before. My tongue hurts realy bad if I eat bananas, walnuts, or hot sauce from my favorite taco place. These allergies happened over night, so I was initialy confused.

Umm, that happens to me alot, and I try to refrain from eating things that hurt the sore spot, refrain from talking too much, and I just keep my mouth closed as often as possible, and it always heals within at least a week.
