I work out for an hour five times a week and my co-workers are telling me that it is too much? If it is "bad" why is it? I am trying to get healthy and loose some weight.

No, it's not bad for you!
Well, I suppose it depends on what you're doing. If you're lifting weights, too much can be a bad thing. But if it's cardio, go for it. I don't think you can get too much cardio, really...

Heh...my friend's German teacher told me this story today(not sure if it's real): There was this really unhealthy guy who couldn't run at all. So, he had this genius plan to kill himself by running. But, eventually he just lost weight and became a runner.
Yeah, it was a lot funnier in person.

Absolutely not, and according to the new FDA findings...they recommend atleast five days of cardio workout a week. Your co-workers are typical, keep doing what you are doing...it is a great thing, you will feel great, and you will lose weight. I hate when people tell people to stop working out so much. Even if you are working out obsessively, I can think of a lot of worse things that you could be doing obsessively. People are HATERS!!

If your 50 lbs over weight and just started You can give different parts of your Body stress or damage... Research or talk with your doctor whats best for you and your body...

Know one can guess your body and past.... And what is really best without some history with weight and height...

Also if your 30 lbs over weight 5 times a week is fine if its a full Heart and body workout... Drink Water and eat well with working out...

Add walking to your work out... Try to stay way from High sodium drinks during a couple of those work outs. A little is Ok when you sweat real hard... Side Note... NO Diet Sodas with meals... Sodium to high. The ones coming out with splenda are better than the ones with Aspartame.... If you need some soda...

Last if your between 30 and 50 lbs over weight play it by ear or just talk with your doctor....

Your past health comes into play....

Stay strong You'll make it....

The only time you should worry that you are working out too much is when you are physically drained, or when you strain muscles. Then it may be time to lay off a little. But you sound like you feel great, so you are fine, don't worry.

If you feel good, tell your co-workers to get a life and worry about something else. If you feel tired, drained or otherwise un-well, maybe you should rest a little more.

it depends on how much work you are doing, and how much bodyfat
your body has. the most important thing though is nutrition

If you are doing cardio, i would recomment doing no more than 30 minute and weight training is a must
get a personal trainer for more advice.
