Normally about 2 times a year for checkups and vaccinations so if your dog lives for 10 years thats 20 times. I would add about and extra 5 for accidents and illness. So for a normally healthy dog that lives for ten years, 25 vet visits. Mind you it varies on the breed as to how long it lives but 25 is about average.

Every couple of weeks as a puppy (for shots), at 6 months for spay neuter, annually for a couple of years for heartworm and vaccinations, every 6 months after they reach the age of 7. This is the minimum and doesn't include accidents, allergies, etc. Also there is the monthly heartworm flea meds that you will need consider.

So, no accidents, maybe 5 times year one, 1 time year 2-6 (total of 9 so far) and then twice thereafter for another 6 years...21 times for a healthy 12 year old dog.

My dogs go to the vet about four times in their first year (for puppy shots) and then once a year until they get to about 5-7. Then I start taking them twice a year, because they are getting older and to help catch the bad stuff (like growths) before they get too bad. They also go to the vet as needed for injuries, sickness, etc.

As many times a necessary. If a dog lived to be 12 years old and only had to go for annual shots he'd probably go at least 14 times. Three set of shots during the first three months including rabies, then the following year annual shots and another rabie shot. Every year they get their booster shot and after the second rabie shot they will get another one every three years.I've never had a dog go to the vet ONLY for shots. Like a child something else always comes up. Like the two times one of my dogs got stung by a bee and had an allergic reaction. Of course both times it was on a Sunday and I had to go to the emergency vet.One can't really say for sure how many times a dog will need to go to the vet during his life time. That's like saying how many times will a human have to go to the doctor during their life time.

after your dog has gotten its puppy booster shots, it should only go once a year for its annual exam and vaccinations unless something happens to it or you find something abnormal on it.... there is no way of determining how many times a dog should see a vet in its lifetime... once a year and then more as needed

Check-ups should be at least once a year (my vet says twice, but that may be just to make more money). Plus anytime the dog is sick (depends on the dog).

As many times as it needs to go.
How many times in your lifetime do you think you'll go to the Dr.for check-ups and stuff?
Keep your dog healthy by giving nutritious food, monthly heartworm preventative and flea meds, keep it's shots current, provide plenty of fresh water, keep the dogs surroundings clean as well as it's food dishes and keep it safe from harm at all times.
take care of these things and you'll spend far less at the vet than others who put the dogs health and welfare far down on their priority lists.

After it has it's puppy shots I would suggest atleast once a year, since the Distemper shot and Heartworm check need to be done yearly.
