I'm getting my tonsils out on Jan. 4th. I was wondering if any one had any tips? Also, how long will it be before I am able to play in band? (I play clarinet)

hey! i just got my tonsils out yesterday around 1:30.. the procedure itself takes about 20 min. honeslty when i woke up i was fine. a lil out of it but i was fine when i went home yesterday. just eat lots of popsicles and drink tons of water. even if it hurts a lil make sure u stay hydrated or else your going to end up back in the hospital. acc. when i got home from the hospital yesterday i ate a lil mashed potatoes. so its not as serious as you think it is. im doing fine and im a baby when it comes to that kind of stuff... i would say id wait like 2 or 3 weeks to play in the band..

I had my tonsils out a year ago and it wasn't too bad. For the first week you have them out, you can't eat anything hard like chips. You have to eat things like ice cream and popsicles and soup. How long would it be to be able to play in band? Probably not long after you get them out because it won't effect your playing too much.

Lots and lots of ice cream, that's what you'll need. What you have to do is keep your throat as cold as possible. This is the best method for recovery from a tonsilectomy.
