Windows XP can open ZIP files directly (they look like folders). Winzip is a great program that does a lot more with Zip files.

Step 1: Download a compression tool such as WinZIP, Izarc, 7-zip, WinRAR. Install it on your PC. Step 2: The installation -should- automatically associate itself with all compressed archives. If it doesn't, then right click on a file with a ZIP extension, select Open with... In the popup that appears, scroll down until you find the program you just installed, click on it, then make sure the check box under the list is checked, then click on OK.

Windows XP should be able to do it. If you don't have XP try http://www.rarlab.com. WinRar is what can do that for you.
