No you don't, but in order to vote you must register for selective service, and our military system we have here in the U.S. ia all volunteer service,..in other words, they are not going to force you to join or even draft you.

Well, they haven't started the draft yet so I don't think you would have to join the Army. However, you might want to think about joining as the perks are pretty good now. For example you could see the world, get free college education, learn a trade that you could use upon getting out, or you might like it so well that you would want to just stay in. You can retire after 20 in the service and in civilian life you would likely have to work 40. It would be something to think about. For the most part, the Army is mostly volunteer now and most soldiers are proud to serve their country.

That is the great thing about this country. Unless there is a draft issued ( which hasn't been since Vietnam ), you do NOT have to enlisted in the Armed Forces.

You can if you'd like though.

You say your going to graduate high school?????
God help us.

No the U.S. military is solely voluntary.... That is what makes it the best in the world. Those that are in the military WANT to be there.

How could you meet all the requirements to be a citizen and not know the freedoms of this country?

Welcome! Like the others have said, there is no military service requirement in the US. You must register with Selective Service, but there is currently no draft.

No!
IF, we re-instate a "draft", then maybe you will. Until there is a draft, no one has to serve.
You will have to register for what is called the "Selective Service".
don't let anyone scare you into enlisting.
