Quite the opposite! Most people think spicy foods are bad for you, because of the burning effect. Spicy foods are VERY HEALTHY for you! They can help with everything from high blood pressure to depression (releases endorphins) to ulcers (prevents the production of h. pylori, the bacteria that causes ulcers) and MANY more! Many cultures eat spicy foods from a very young age and all throughout life with no negative effects, only benefits. I've been eating spicy foods for over 30 years and I'm in great health! Enjoy the burn!

It's a complete fallacy that spicy foods are bad for you, assuming you don't already have a gastrointestinal problem. Obviously a condition like acid reflux might be aggravated by spicy food. Spicy food does not cause ulcers. Ulcers are caused by bacteria and exacerbated by stress. There's even been some studies linking hot peppers with lower rates of stomach cancer.

Will America ever get over it's multiple phobias about food???

Yes it can be very dangerous. Spicy foods can cause your bowel movements to be very hard and painful. You can also create yourself a small ulcer, from all the acid hitting your stomache.

It can be if you have gastroesophageal reflux. If you have a lot of acid in your stomach then it could hurt the lining of your esophagus and stomach. Overall, it really isn't bad for you. Spanish peoples diet consist of spicy things everyday. Just monitor yourself and if it causes heartburn then be careful.
