with the battery disconnected. the red wire from your alternator plug in will have to be cut. using a #10 red wire connect one end to amp gauge,and the other end to the remaining post. if the meter reads backwards, reverse wire leads.

You hook them up by using any good sized (10 Gauge) un-fused positive wire (alternator) They go inline to read amps flowing thru.
