My cat has some clumps of fur on his back that won't come out. A friend told me to give him vegetable oil so I mixed a spoon of olive oil with a bit of tuna and it seemed to improve his fur. Then another friend told me to give him fish oil instead so I did but he barely touched it, and then he vomited later so I won't do that again! My question is, is it really okay to give him vegetable oil and what kind is best? He eats dry diet cat food so it's very low in fat, and I doubt if he gets enough essential fatty acids.

I give him a bit of tuna a few times a week but it hasn't cleared up the fur problem by itself.

Olive oil is good, and so are egg yolks. Peanut oil is a tasty treat and generally goes down well, and does wonders for a dry coat.

The juices from canned tuna and salmon etc are excellent for a cat's fur. If it won't lap it up straight -highly unusual- add it to drinking water

I give my cats a handful of dry food for their teeth every day (I feed them canned oist food mostly). Well, I once bought this Purina "Naturals" dry kibble and since I always read the labels and check ingrediaent, I noticed that it has soy listed. Anyway, one of the first things I noticed when I fed this to my cats is how soft their coats got. Maybe you can try Purina "Naturals."
