Last time I checked the Christians claimed between 6,000 and 10,000 year old earth, but that is clearly disproven by tree rings. Did god intelligent designed the trees to appear older than they should be?

Please check this for Christian Scientists claiming the earth is 6,000 years old: http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/re1/chapter8.asp

Please use this for tree reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLFKM886l4Q

Janeyfreephd... the earth is AT LEAST 12,000 years old. Meaning it could be a lot more, but we don't have samples of older trees.

Someone's going to say "that means that the world is really 12,000 years old!". I just know it. I wish they wouldn't, but they're gonna say it.

Did god intelligent designed the trees to appear older than they should be?

For some reason that question cracks me up!

If you actually read the Bible, you'd see that a lot of things that science has discovered actually reaffirms that the Bible is true. They say birds evolved from fish, when Genesis shows that they were created at the same time. The same goes with man and monkeys. The discrepancy comes in the way scientists try to connect the facts they've collected. They often make assumptions based on limited data, or, even their own prejudices, which sometimes is unavoidable. To say that carbon decays at a certain rate over a period of 20 years is reproducible, but to say that it will be the same over 100,000 years is making an assumption.
The earth isn't 6,000 years old, that's when man was created. The Earth, birds, fish, trees, etc. were already here.
And unfortunately, just because someone claims to be a Christian doesn't mean they read their Bible.
So, what about the cavemen?

Lightning> LOL and 4000 more beneficial years makes sooo a lot vast difference! Dendrochronology is on the point of no longer feasible to refute. in spite of the undeniable fact that YECs income this announcing that earrings are miscounted or the tree grows more beneficial than one ring a twelve months. it is real each and every now and then, yet you may continuously tell at the same time as a tree has formed more beneficial than one ring in a season. It has a tendency to face out. Tree species at danger of being not undemanding to ascertain are not used if feasible. that is feasible to advance a tentative dendrochronological list decrease back to about 10,000BC there is fossilised sequences right here and there which are available. What concerns is that it truly is miles sufficient decrease back to degree adverse to the history of human civilisation and promises and priceless calibration anchor for radiocarbon relationship. YEC's continuously assume archaeologists and geologists are witless idiots who can't tell at the same time as a pattern is of doubtful usefulness. heavily, the time-honored administration on sampling is rather severe.

The bible never says how old the earth is. There is a gap theory that is Between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. If you want more info get a Dake's Annotated Reference Bible. He Goes into detail about this subject. I have never heard of a tree that has been growing for 12K. After all it should have evolved into something else by now?

I am not a tree ring expert by any means, but it seems there are a lot of assumptions being made in the youtube video. Why not simply count the tree rings to see what they date? I searched the internet for "Bristlecone Pine" and found this site:

http://www.answers.com/topic/bristlecone-pine

Everything they state on that site (as well as many others) shows the actual core samples place the trees at around 4,000 to 4,700 years old. I couldn't find anything on the page that suggested anything even close to 10,000+ years. To the contrary, most trees dated around 3,000 years.

So, it is not quite so simple as the video makes it seem. You are now placing your faith in the producer of that video, and their ability to interpret the detailed facts for you. To understand the argument being set forth would require much research and analysis to determine if they are indeed fact.

No tree has ever been found to be 12000 years old. Go tell that to someone else. No matter what one believes on the age of the earth. You cheapen your arguments.

I won't check, I believe you. Whatever is proven correct is ok with me! I understand that the Bible has been messed with and I keep an open mind to all new discoveries and I question the old stuff all of the time. God gave me a brain. I use it.

When God made trees, how old do you think He would have made them look? Two weeks? Two years? Ten years? Four thousand years?
